On occasion some of the young men who find a home at Cove Creek Farm have not completed their high school education and are in need of continuing that educational track. Cove Creek Academy has developed a partnership with Keystone National High School to provide them the opportunity. It is also possible to earn a GED from Cove Creek Academy. Our day includes breakfast on the Farm, academic classes as appropriate and work on the farm that may count as electives. Each student works at his own pace within the structure designed for him. Little or no homework is anticipated as most of the students' work will be supervised during the structured educational periods. Our regular school day runs Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday open for that student who needs extra work or has behavioral issues. Our primary goal is to assist families with difficult to deal with students.
OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION PROGRAM: Parents of young men who have received out of school suspensions in the local schools now have a resource to help them manage this crisis. Instead of a "vacation" from school, Cove Creek Academy is providing a voluntary day program for suspended students grades 10-12. The day starts at 7:30 am and ends at 6:00 pm. Open to young men in the 10th grade and above, students involved in the program will experience a day mixed with work on the farm, make-up school work and individual and group counseling. Schools will have the option of accepting work done for credit during the suspension. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included. Cove Creek Academy is providing this program at no cost to the parents or schools and is grateful to the local businesses and individuals who have donated funds to scholarship students involved in this program. |
