Cove Creek Partnership for Healing is a group of collaborating professionals who all share a desire to work with at risk youth and have concern for the young men at Cove Creek Farm in common. These professionals are highly respected members of the High Country Community and offer their services on a sliding scale to allow residents of Cove Creek Center access to the finest in therapy and healthcare. One of the greatest elements of the Partnership is it's ability to share information and recommendations across the various platforms of care that are offered by this collaborative team.

Professionals who are regular providers of services to the residents of Cove Creek :

Dr. Andrew Shaw, MD

Dr. Shaw is in  full time private practice in Boone and sees residents of Cove Creek Farm as appropriate for medication checks and other services. He is the co-develper along with Trevor Wilkerson and Chris Christenbury of a dynamic new approach to problem solving called "Event Thinking". He enjoys visiting the farm on a frequent basis and is a co-host on "Train Up A Child" the longest running talk radio program in Boone, hosted by Cove Creek's founder and Executive Director, Chris Christenbury. Dr. Jon L. Winek, P.A.   Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & Licensed Professional Counselor

Dr. Winek is a professor at ASU and sees a limited number of clients in his private practice. Dr. Winek holds a position on the North Carolina Board of Marriage and Family Counselors and has been working with several of our residents for a number of years. He also serves on Cove Creek Center's Advisory Council. His educational background includes: Ph.D, University of Southern California, Sociology MFT, 1993 M.M.F.T & M.A., University of Southern California, Family Therapy & Sociology, 1990 B.G.S., University of Michigan, Psychology/ Sociology, 1985.  Dr. Winek can be contacted at: 828.262.7119.

Trevor Wilkerson, MA, LPC

Trevor is a licensed professional counselor and his practice, Plan B Counseling, shares offices with Dr. Andrew Shaw. Trevor has been seeing our residents and folks from the comunity for several years and has a keen insight into addictive behavior. Trevor also provides daily case management services to Cove Creek Center as well. Trevor has a very laid back and de-escalating style and is held in very high regard by both our residents and others in the mental health and law enforcement community. Phil has a private practice with offices in Boone, West Jefferson and North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Phil usually spends one day a week at Cove Creek Farm seeing patients.
